Upcoming X-men prequel scouts filming locations in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Tybee Island is becoming quite the draw for production companies.

There's a possibility the next installment of X-men, X-Men: First Class, could be filmed on Tybee, Savannah or in Thunderbolt.

Over the weekend of August 21st and 22nd, crews were out scouting locations for the film and taking photos around Tybee from a helicopter. On Thursday night, the city council approved special events permit for the production company, but that doesn't mean they're coming here yet.

Tybee is just one of many locations they're considering.

"This is a very complicated film and there are a lot of creative decisions that need to be made. But in the meantime, we're prepping all the locations, getting the permits in order,  so when they do choose which location they're going to use, we'll be ready for them." said Jay Self, director of Tourism and Film Service.

The production company has also looked at locations in Savannah and Thunderbolt. We'll let you know what they decide.
