POOLER, GA (WTOC) - Law enforcement officers from all over Georgia will be traveling to Savannah to honor one of their own.

The funeral for Pooler Police Chief Clarence "Butch" Chan will be held Sunday, September 12 at 3pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.

Chief Clarence "Butch" Chan died earlier this month from a stroke while on a cruise in the Mediterranean Sea with his wife.  He served as Pooler's chief for 24 years.

On Friday, members of the Pooler Police Department met at the cathedral to finalize the arrangements. Deputy Chief Mark Revenew said he has received calls from officers all over the state and the country offering their condolences.

Garden City and Port Wentworth police officers will be handling all calls for service in Pooler Sunday afternoon so all the Pooler officers can attend Chan's funeral.

Chan's wife Laura has set up a scholarship fund. Donations can be made to the St. Leo's University "Clarence Edgar Chan Criminal Justice Scholarship Fund".  For more information about how to donate, call Deputy Chief Revenew at the Pooler Police Department at 912.748.7333.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home on U.S. Highway 80 in Pooler.

Chan served as Pooler's chief of police for 24 years.
