Memorial Ride to benefit Red Cross

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Red Knights International Firefighters MC Georgia Chapter is hosting a Memorial Ride to honor firefighters lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center.

The Red Knights are a group of local firefighters, who wanted to pay their respects to those that were lost.

A Firefighters Night Out after the ride will included live music, food and raffles. All funds raised will benefit the Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The day's activities started with a poker run from Renegade Classics in Richmond Hill to the Harley Davidson at Interstate 95 and Highway 204.

More than 300 riders hit the streets as part of the tribute.

"We thought this year, we wanted to give back to the Red Cross. I know they've done a lot of fires here lately, and its affected a lot of people.  Also, they were a big asset during the nine eleven event. So we just decided this year to help them out," said Mike Curry, president of the Red Knights.

The group has raised more than $5,000 so far.
