SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Evans County Emergency Management officials conducted a survey of damage caused by strong winds that occurred late Saturday afternoon.
Officials found that the damage was caused by straight line winds from a thunderstorm downburst, according to information on the National Weather Service website.
A barn was blown over by pecan tree branches that were several 3 to 4 inches in diameter, according to the NWS.
All the damage was laid down in the same direction and it as consistent with wind speeds near 65 mph, according to the NWS website. There were reports of several trees down within 1 mile of the area.
