ROBESON CO., NC (WTOC) - A Hinesville family is alive thanks to a highway patrolman's heroic actions.
Jessica White-Depriest was driving on Interstate 95 back to Hinesville when her van burst into flames in North Carolina. The fire moved quickly, but a trooper and mother worked together and got her triplets and 2-year-old child out safely.
"Thankfully, a passing motorist stopped with a fire extinguisher to try to put the flames out," said Alan Humphrey, a trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
"I was like, 'Oh my God, I have to get my children out of the car,' " White-Depriest said.
The father is still stationed in Iraq. Everyone is going to be OK.
