EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - There's a new investigation involving the Heidt family in Effingham County.

On Tuesday night, police lights were flashing outside the home of Robin Heidt on Ebenezer Road. Effingham County sheriff deputies said that at 9 p.m. they found Robin's brother, 34-year-old John Henry Raft dead in the home.

Investigators said they are investigating his death as a possible suicide. A medical examiner said there were no signs of foul play.

The Heidts are a well-known family in Effingham County and this family has already dealt with more than its share of tragedy.

Robin's husband, Carey, and his father, Phillip, were murdered in their home on Springfield Egypt Road in August 2008. Carey's brother Craig is about to stand trial for the murders. Craig is in jail awaiting trial.

Jury selection begins Sept. 27, that's less than two weeks from now.

Robin Heidt is a witness in the case. In February, she was arrested for threatening another witness.
