Program launches to help jumpstart job growth

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Georgia Department of Labor is trying to help the state's high unemployment numbers.

It's starting a new project called Georgia Works. It's supposed to stimulate job growth across the state.  The project allows job seekers to receive training from employers and money for expenses such as child care and transportation

Dianne Smith-Jenkins, a Career Center manager, said the opportunity to train through Georgia Works is limited to a maximum of 24 hours per week for six weeks.
