DeMint says no debate planned with Greene

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - South Carolina Republican Sen. Jim DeMint said he has no plans to debate his Democratic opponent Alvin Greene.

Greene and other Democrats have repeatedly asked for a debate. DeMint was on NBC's "Today" show on Thursday morning to talk about Christine O'Donnell's victory in the Delaware Republican Senate primary and the Tea Party movement. During that interview DeMint was asked about a debate.

"We have no debates scheduled and I've got a couple of opponents in South Carolina, my main opponents are here in the White House and in Congress, so that's where I'm spending most of my time," he said on the "Today" show.

Greene and DeMint also face off with independent candidate Tom Clements. The election is Nov. 2.
