SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The First Tee of Savannah is helping shape the lives of children through the game of golf.
Now they are expanding their after school services thanks to a partnership with the Mary Calder golf course.
The learning facility is located right on the International Paper site.
First Tee teaches kids how to golf, and also the core life values of the game.
"The center represents a brick and mortar facility, where can not only teach golf, but we can teach life lessons, core values and character development for the children of Savannah," Said Executive Director Barbara Essig.
"To me I like to view it as something that is going to get bigger and bigger," said Mill Manager Walter Chastang. "International Paper wants to be apart of it and will be apart of it. We are looking forward to what is happening in the future."
The grand opening for first tee will take place on Saturday. They are inviting families to come and bring their children ages 7 to 13 out to learn about the program and the game of golf.
