Plane crashes in Effingham County, sends two to hospital

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA (WTOC) – Two men are in the hospital after crashing their plane in a wooded area near Effingham County's Briar Patch Airport.

The single-engine plane crashed near the airport runway, off of Green Morgan School Road, while attempting to take off.

Both men were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is unknown, and the Federal Aviation Administration is responding to the site, according to David Ehsanipoor or the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

The aircraft sustained extensive damage. No other injuries have been reported.
