Late night shooting leaves two dead in SC

YEMASSEE, SC (WTOC) – The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a late-night shooting that resulted in the deaths of two people in Yemassee.

Officers responded to a call reporting gunshots just before midnight Saturday at a home on White Hall Road.

When police arrived, they found the bodies of Consuela, 30, and Terrance Drayton, 33, lying on the lawn in front of the home.

Mrs. Drayton suffered several gunshot wounds; Mr. Kelly was found on the ground with a single gunshot wound, and a semi-automatic pistol near his left hand – both were pronounced dead by the Coroner's Office.

The 911 caller told police that her friend, Mrs. Drayton, and Mr. Drayton, the father of Mrs. Drayton's children, had just walked from the home and into the front lawn before she heard shots outside – The caller said Mrs. Drayton had been staying with her due to domestic problems.

The incident is still under investigation, but is believed to be a murder/suicide, according to police.
