SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Attendees at the Fifth Biennial Georgia Youth Summit in Rock Eagle were encouraged to "Take Up The Torch" and to improve their community by working with local officials, leaders and resources.
Youth leaders from Bryan County participated in the event including; Bradley Hoover, Michael Kelly, Elizabeth Crofts, Christopher Morgan, and their Adult Sponsor, Bryan County Family Connection Director Wendy Sims.
The event aimed to create an awareness of state/local issues, to enhance youth and adult partnerships on the local level and to prepare youth to become active to improve their community, according to a news release.
At the summit, the group had to identifying several key issues in Bryan County. Then the group had to identify one key issue and solution to address after a discussion with other county teams, local and state officials and civic leaders. They chose and did a presentation on pedestrian infrastructure in Bryan County.
The group then was tasked with bringing the issue and solution back to the county and work with local government to address the issue.
