SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Construction crews have hit a water main, flooding the basement of a downtown Savannah business. It happened just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at Ruth's Chris Steak House near the intersection of Whitaker Street and Bay Street. The water level has reached about 4 feet.

Occupants of the River Homes News Place condos have been evacuated, many of them still in their pajamas. Emergency crews are trying to keep the water from reaching the electrical room.
