SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The city of Savannah is holding a special town hall meeting next week on a proposal to truck liquefied natural gas through Savannah.
The public meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 7, in the Savannah Civic Center Ballroom.
The city has hired a consultant to advise the Savannah City Council on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission process and provide technical detail on the proposal. The consultant will make a presentation at the meeting. The public is invited to offer input. Savannah City Council will also be attending.
Southeast LNG has applied to FERC for permission to activate a trucking operation from its Elba Island facility, according to the city. The route involves trucks hauling LNG going west on the Islands Expressway, south on the Truman Parkway, and west down DeRenne Avenue to Interstate 516.
