SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah Fire and Emergency Services will honor firefighters who paid the ultimate price by the protecting the homes and lives of people in the Coastal Empire.
The Chatham County Firefighters Memorial Service is scheduled for Sunday, and will include recognition of firefighter line-of-duty-deaths in the metropolitan area: Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, and Liberty Counties.
A plaque dedicated to the firefighters will be added to the monument in front of Savannah Fire and Emergency Services headquarters on Oglethorpe Avenue.
Mike Smith, Bryan County Fire Chief, will be the guest speaker at the ceremony. The service will begin at 2 p.m. at Savannah Fire and Emergency Headquarters.
