Local restaurant helps in fight against world hunger

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - As part of a nation-wide effort to stamp out world hunger, Southside Pizza Hut hosted a World Hunger Carnival on Sunday, October 3.

Assistant manager, Amy Coury said, "Its really unfortunate and unacceptable there are so many starving children in the world today, and we're here to do something about it and make a difference."

The Southside restaurant, which is located at 11510 Abercorn Street,  threw the event in support of an annual two-month fundraiser by Pizza Hut.

The carnival featured a silent auction, raffle, dunking booth, train ride, face painting, and music. Local police, fire and emergency officers were all in attendance.

Donations were be accepted. People enjoyed a slice of pizza and soda for $2.

The event began at 1 p.m. and lasted until 5 p.m.
