SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A Richmond Hill man was killed when two pickup trucks collided Friday afternoon on Ga. Highway 204.
Police said William Owens, 74, of Richmond Hill, Ga., was driving west on Ga. 204 at about 3:57 p.m. when a red Ford F-150 pickup he was driving rear-ended a black Chevrolet Silverado driven by Cathy Cliett, 51, of Nicholls, Ga., which was stopped at the traffic light at Grove Point Road.
Westbound traffic was funneled through one left-turn lane for several hours, backing up to Savannah Mall. Those lanes reopened at 7 p.m.
Both were taken to Memorial hospital. Owens was pronounced dead. Cliett was treated for her injuries and released.
The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate.
