SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A Hunter Army Airfield Ranger has been killed in Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sgt. 1st Class Lance Vogeler from Frederick, Md., was killed during a shootout in Afghanistan's Helmand Province.
The 29-year-old was on his 12th deployment, assigned with the 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment out of Hunter.
Vogeler was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star medal and the Meritorious Service medal.
