3 Take Back the Streets events set for October

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham metro police are holding taking back the streets events as part of October's National Crime Prevention Month.

The city of Savannah and Chatham County are among more than 150 communities nationally that are teaming up with the National Crime Prevention Council and the U.S. Department of Justice to prevent crime and create safer communities.

"Taking back the streets" includes three events on Oct. 16 that will focus on crime prevention and awareness.

Participants can interact with local law enforcement and other public safety agencies to find out what they can do to fight crime in their communities.

Theme: Criminal Awareness Day Out  
Chatham County Sheriff's with a K-9 unit, Fire Truck & men from the south side

Colonial Village Neighborhood Association
Theme:  Keeping Our Neighborhood Safe
Special: Live Music

Time:  5 to 7 p.m.
