3 Bluffton men arrested after drug bust

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) – Three people have been arrested on drug charges after a bust Tuesday by the Beaufort/Jasper Multi Agency Drug Task Force in Bluffton.

Investigators wrapped up a probe into illegal drug sales in the Martha Brown Circle area at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 11.

Agents seized an estimated 29 grams of cocaine, approximately 7 grams of crack cocaine, 75 tablets of controlled substances; approximately 8 grams of marijuana and a 9-mm high point handgun.

Matthew Frazier, 29, of Bluffton, also known as B.J., distributed marijuana, crack cocaine and cocaine from that area, according to authorities. Investigators got a search warrant for a vehicle from which Frazier primarily distributed illegal drugs.

Frazier was charged with six counts each of distribution of marijuana and sale of distribution of marijuana within a half mile of a school. He was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within a half mile of a school, one count of trafficking cocaine, one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine within a half mile of a school, one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within a half mile of a school, one count of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, one count of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances within a half mile of a school, one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a half mile of a school, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen firearm.

Authorities said that Carlos A. Williams, 31, Bluffton, tried to flee as the search warrant was being carried out. He was detained and had marijuana on him, according to investigators.  Kenneth Lamonte Johnson, 26, of Bluffton, was also located in the area and had an outstanding probation warrant out on him.

Johnson was charged with a probation violation warrant. Williams was charged with simple possession of marijuana and fleeing to evade arrest and detention.
