Midway teen wins Youth Songwriting Competition

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – A Midway teen is the winner of this year's Youth Songwriting Competition.

Nicholas Roebuck, 19, won the 2010 Youth Songwriting Competition, which is a part of the annual Savannah Folk Music Festival. The finals were held Oct. 9.

Roebuck won a $500 gift certificate from AMR Music and performed his winning song, "Wish Me Luck" at the final festival event. This was Roebuck's first time in the competition and in his final year of eligibility.

Second place went to Cecelia Witt, 17, of Savannah, who is a veteran of this competition. She has come in third place twice and second place twice. She received a $300 gift certificate from AMR Music.

Third place went to Carolyn Gibbs, 15, of Savannah. She received a $200 gift certificate from AMR.

Roebuck will be asked by the Savannah Folk Music Society to be a judge at next year's competition as is traditional for the winner.
