CEMA alerts can display on electronic billboards

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – The Chatham Emergency Management Agency now has the ability to use 13 digital billboards throughout Savannah during an emergency or disaster.

Lamar Advertising Co. will run the community service messages for free when needed.  The company is doing a test run Thursday. A CEMA message will rotate on all the digital billboards throughout the day.

The partnership aims to inform residents about emergency events such as hurricane warnings, evacuations and major oil spills.

Lamar Advertising plans to install two more billboards in the coming months.
