SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A hit-and-run lands one man in the hospital, and a woman in big trouble with police.

It happened on Savannah's west side on Montgomery Street at 54th Street.  Police say 57-year-old Nathaniel Daughtry was riding his bike down Montgomery Street when a pickup truck rearended him, then just kept going. The back tire of his bike was crushed.

Police had a good description of the truck that hit him. It was a green 2001 Toyota Tundra, but they weren't sure who was driving.

But several hours later, police found the woman they say was driving: 53-year-old Naomi Brown. They're charging her with leaving the scene of an accident.

Police spokesperson Gena Moore says both drivers and cyclists need to be aware of one another. "Bicycles have to follow the same rules on the road as cars do, but if he's in a lane of travel, then you have to treat him with the same respect you'd treat another car," said Moore.

In this case, Moore said it appears the driver was following too closely.

Daughtery was taken to the hospital he is listed in serious but stable condition.
