Officers meet with neighborhood group

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC)  - Savannah-Chatham metro police officers are taking back the streets of Savannah.

Officers greeted people at the Paradise Park-Oakhurst Neighborhood Association. The group came out to meet their neighbors, promote the community and share information.

Officers were hoping to also get more participation in the neighborhood association and the neighborhood watch.

"They understand that police and fire services can't be everywhere at all times and they're realizing in order to give great coverage and great service. They're going to have to help out just a bit. All the police ask is [that people] be eyes and ears when something is obviously wrong or out of place. Give us a call," said Cpl. John Simmons of the SCMPD.

October is also National Crime Prevention Month.
