SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - There's a new place to exercise on Whitemarsh Island.
City and county leaders held a ribbon cutting for a new trail at the Whitemarsh preserve. Then people tested it out during a 5k run. The trail is a place where people can get some exercise and just enjoy nature.
"There's a new part of the trail that's .6 miles that we just cut for the event. It will remain open. It's [a] real nice walking trail that takes you through the woods and down by the wetland areas," said Joanna Bounds, event organizer.
The 5k run raised money for the Chatham County Resource Protection Commission.
