Former reserve deputy charged with impersonating an officer

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - A former member of the Chatham County Sheriff's Office Reserve Unit has been charged with impersonating an officer and obstruction.

Dennis McCullough, 65, was arrested Monday morning by Savannah-Chatham metro police at the Kroger on Mall Boulevard after he confronted a customer about parking in the fire lane and showing a CCSO badge, according to the sheriff's office. When he was arrested, police found two other badges on him from the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office. All the badges have been confiscated.

McCullough was a member of the CCSO Reserve Unit from July to September 2009. When he left the department in September 2009, he turned in his CCSO badge, according to the Chatham Co. Sheriff's Office. 

The sheriff's office is investigating how McCullough got on another badges. He's currently at the  Chatham County Detention Center.
