FORT STEWART, GA (WTOC) - More 3rd Infantry Division soldiers return home Tuesday. Members of the 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team arrived at Fort Stewart at about 7:30 a.m.

Before the sun even rose over Fort Stewart, excited children, parents and loved ones gathered on the bleachers lining Cottrell field to greet their loved ones.

While they waited, they were greeted by the cast of the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother."

"Your dog faced soldier fought hard, and now families it is time to welcome them home," said one cast member on a video shown.

Excitement filled the air, as the time drew nearer for these families to be reunited with a soldier part of the 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team.

As the busses arrived, some of the wives gasped, "There they are!"

The 300 soldiers made their way across Cottrell Field, but one soldier in particular stood out, clutching a dozen of red roses in his left hand Col. Chuck Sexton's led the pack.

Within a few minutes he found his wife, who admired him more than she did the roses.

"It is so much nicer seeing my wife and actually coming back to the United States and seeing the people of the U.S. and seeing all the families here together," said Sexton. "Fortunately, I was here with a big group and with all the soldiers meeting with families."

Sexton was not only happy to see his family, he also enjoyed watching the other emotional reunions.

"It is a great morning. The sun is coming up, look at them," said Sexton. "I got to get a picture of that, it's cute," said his wife as they watched a couple embrace.

"It is great to be back with the family and the soldiers as well," said Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Michael Mingle.

After months of being apart the soldiers are anxious to get home and spend some quality time their families.

"Now I want to go home with my wife," said Saxton.

The majority of the 3rd ID is expected to return home by the end of the year.
