SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – Two survivors of domestic violence will be speaking to the Chatham County Youth Commission on Wednesday. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
In 1996, Valerie L. Williams, was shot three times by her ex-husband, who left her for dead. Williams has written three books and travels around the country talking to young people about domestic violence prevention.
Yukeyveaya Wright survived an assault by her ex-husband, who is now in prison, during which he stabbed her 33 times with a butcher knife, according to a news release.Wright now assists victims of crime in Chatham County.
The forum takes place at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Chatham County Commission Chambers at 124 Bull St.
