RINCON, GA (WTOC) – A mother and her daughter were rushed to the hospital Saturday night, after being struck by a vehicle.
Police responded to the intersection of West 9th and Anderson Streets in Rincon around 7:30 p.m. where a driver struck a woman and child – the mother was pushing her daughter in a stroller.
Rincon Police Chief Mike Bohannon told WTOC the area was not well lit, and the driver of the car did not see the mother and baby until it was too late, and he slammed on his breaks.
The driver had a heart attack at the scene and was taken to Memorial Medical Center.
The mother was transported to Memorial Medical Center via Life Flight, the baby was taken by ambulance, according to police.
The driver is in stable condition. Meanwhile, Chief Bohannon says the mother is on life-support and the baby remains in critical condition.
