Special Election
General Obligation Bonds and Educational Sales Tax

Shall the Candler County School District issue general obligation bonds in principal amount not to exceed $17,625,000 to pay the costs of (a) acquiring, constructing, and equipping a new Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade school and accompanying athletic facilities and playgrounds; (b) renovating, improving, constructing, and equipping new and existing school district and athletic facilities including, but not limited to, softball fields, paving, parking lots, storage buildings, fencing, land improvements, and any other building and facilities useful or desirable in connection therewith; (c) the acquisition of any property, both real and personal, and equipment necessary in connection with the above described capital outlay projects, together with school buses, maintenance vehicles and equipment, administrative and instructional technology additions and improvements, including, but not limited to, technology wiring, energy management systems, heating and air conditioning systems, lighting and similar equipment; (d) renovation, improvements, and construction of roads, streets, bridges and sidewalks including paving and other improvements to real property now owned or to be acquired by the School District; and  (e) financing the costs of issuance of the bonds including capitalized interest, AND shall a one percent sales and use tax for educational purposes be reimposed in the Candler County School District for a period of time not to exceed 20 consecutive calendar quarters commencing upon the termination of the one percent sales and use tax for educational purposes presently in effect for the raising of not more than $9,000,000 for the purpose of funding the payment of (a) a portion of the principal and interest on the above described general obligation bonds and (b) a portion of the costs of the above described capital outlay projects not paid for with proceeds from said general obligation bonds?
