CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) – The Chatham County Health Dept. is holding its drive-through flu shot clinic next week. The flu shot clinic will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 3, at the health department at 1395 Eisenhower Dr. Flu shots are $25. Cash, Medicaid, and Medicare will be accepted. No appointment is necessary.
Clinic participants should use the entrance on Eisenhower Drive for the drive-through clinic. Traffic will flow one-way through the parking lot and exit onto Sallie Mood Drive.
The seasonal flu shot is approved for people 6 months of age and older, including healthy people, people with chronic medical conditions and pregnant women.
The 2010-2011 flu vaccine will protect against three strains of flu: influenza A H3N2 virus, influenza B virus, and the 2009 H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last season, according to the health department. Since the 2009 H1N1 strain is included in this year's seasonal vaccine, there is no need to get a separate 2009 H1N1 vaccination this year.
Those planning to use the drive-through service are urged to download and fill out the patient consent form before arriving. Get the form by going to www.gachd.org/chatham and clicking on the "Drive-Through Flu Clinic" link in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
The patient privacy form and vaccine information statements can also found there.
