GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) - Chatham County sheriff's deputies are helping children say no to drugs.
Two K-9 teams visited Garden City Elementary for Red Ribbon Week. Deputies talked about the dangers associated with drugs and alcohol and explained how they get illegal substances off the streets.
"The importance of Red Ribbon Week is to make sure children are aware of drugs and the type of drugs out there. Also make them aware how dangerous drugs can be for them and their friends," said Deputy Charlton Willoughby of the Chatham Co. Sheriff's Office.
The narcotic dogs and their handlers do random searches three or four times a week at schools all across the region.
