SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – The Winn Army Community Hospital at Fort Stewart plans to open a community-based primary healthcare clinic in Richmond Hill for active duty family members.
The facility, which will be named Richmond Hill Medical Home, is projected to open in spring 2011. It is among 17 clinics the Army is opening near 14 Army installations across the U.S. and Hawaii.
Richmond Hill was selected for the site due to its centralized location and close proximity to those living in the areas of Pooler, Southwestern Savannah and Richmond Hill, according to the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Public Affairs Office.
A lease has been signed for the clinic to be located at 2451A Highway 17 in Richmond Hill, which formerly housed the Harvey's/Food Lion store.
A contractor is working with the leased space which will be outfitted with brand new equipment, according to the public affairs office.
Family members will have the option of transferring their enrollment from Winn Army Community Hospital, Tuttle Army Health Clinic at Hunter Army Airfield, and the TRICARE network to the new clinic. Those registered with TRICARE Prime will not have to re-register.
TRICARE For Life, TRICARE Plus, Retiree and Retiree Family Members are not currently eligible to receive care at the Richmond Hill Medical Home, according to the public affairs office.
The clinic is expected to have seven primary care providers and one psychologist, and will provide care to more than 8,000 family members when fully staffed. The clinic will also provide pharmacy and laboratory services.
