WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a grant of nearly $1.8 million to continue to develop and improve the Georgia State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Milledgeville.
VA awarded the grant to cover 100 percent of allowable costs of the project. Construction plans include 348 standard burial plots; 973 preplaced crypts; 644 gravesites for interment of cremated remains; maintenance facility upgrades; roads; landscaping; and supporting infrastructure. The project will develop approximately 10 acres, according to the VA. The cemetery occupies approximately 142 acres.
