3 arrested in connection with fatal shooting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – Three people have been charged in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old Savannah College of Art and Design student and the shooting of another man.

Sean Giroir, 20, of Houston, was shot and killed Thursday afternoon outside his home at Barnard and 35th Streets. Giroir was a student at SCAD. Mike Levi, 21, was shot in the hip and is still being treated at Memorial University Medical Center.

SCMPD charged all three suspects, 20-year-old John Adams, 18-year-old Daniel M. Izzo and 21-year-old Alex Cowart, with armed robbery. Izzo and Coward were also charged with murder.

They were arrested in Sandy Springs, Ga., and will be extradited to Savannah. SCMPD Major Crimes Commander, Det. Lt. Devon Adams, sent investigators the suspects, and the charges stemmed from those interviews.

Det. Lt. Adams said the suspects went into the house and took cash and marijuana. Giroir and Levi followed them to the car where a struggle ensued and shots were fired, according to police.

The men left in a gray Honda that was traced to an Atlanta woman, who was an acquaintance of one of the suspects, according to SCMPD.

Police said that in the home they found: marijuana plants being grown, LSD, containers of ingredients to produce illegal drugs, a drug lab and a suspected explosive device that was brought out by the bomb squad near midnight.

Police are investigating the drug operation found in the residence, which was able to produce and distribute a large amount of drugs in the area.
