"Freedom Week" kicks off in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – A group of Savannah organizations are joining together to commemorate historic events of the 1960s and the legacy of local civil rights heroes.

The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum Inc., Savannah's 50th Anniversary Committee of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and other local organizations will come together for "Freedom Week in Savannah."

The week-long series of events will begin Saturday, October 30, with a "Get out the Vote Rally" and voter registration at the museum's annex on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The rally is set for 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
