Runoff set for Liberty Co. sheriff's race

LIBERTY CO., GA (WTOC) - Seven candidates were vying for the vacant Liberty County sheriff's position.

There will be a runoff between Steve Sikes and Warren Way. The winner of that contest will only take office for two years, until the next election in 2012.

That's because Sikes or Way will be replacing the late sheriff J. Don Martin. Martin served Liberty County for more than 20 years. His wife, Polly Martin, was appointed sheriff.
