GSU's Holiday Helper Tree is lit

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – Georgia Southern University holds its 17th annual lighting of the Holiday Helper Tree on Wednesday.

The tree holds the holiday wishes of more than 800 people who would not receive gifts without the help of GSU faculty, staff and student volunteers. Each year, more than 200 volunteers fulfill the needs and wishes of these children and adults.

Those interested individuals or groups can choose one or more tags from the tree. After purchasing the gifts, they return them -- wrapped or unwrapped and with the tag attached -- to the Russell Union Commons, where they are given an ornament to place on the tree.
