More soldiers return home from Afghanistan

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – Many of our friends and neighbors are on cloud 9 right now, as they welcome home their soldiers from a year long deployment.

Thursday evening 250 soldiers with the 4/3 Aviation Brigade returned home safely.

Their friends and families packed a hanger at Hunter Army Airfield.  When they saw the hanger doors opening, all you could hear were screams.  Their soldiers were just a few feet away from them.  After a brief ceremony they were back in the arms of their loved ones.

"It's hard to express," said CW2 Fred White about being home.  "It's awesome to be back. It's been a long year and it's good that it's finally over."

White's daughter, Kailee is also thrilled the deployment is over.  It's good.  It's exciting.  Less stuff for me to have to do," said Kailee White.

Specialist Frederick Massey was also glad to be back with his wife and son. "I'm happy to be home. It feels good after a year, very excited," said Massey.

The unit has been in Afghanistan for the past year.
