Sheriff to announce courthouse security upgrades

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - The Chatham County Sheriff's Office recently increased security at the Chatham County Courthouse. The upgrades include a newly installed turnstiles and security gate, which will allow security officers to better monitor who is coming in and out of the courthouse.

Sheriff Al St. Lawrence will speak about the security upgrades at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Chatham Co. Courthouse.

Last year close to 1 million people came to the Chatham County Courthouse and nearly 1,000 prohibited items were confiscated at the courthouse, according to the sheriff's office.
