LONG COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - A community fed up with violence came together to remember the latest victim.
Denzel Richardson, 18, was stabbed to death Friday night at the Time and Save Convenience Store off of Highway 196 in Long County.
"It's very painful and very hard to move forward. He was my baby brother," Richardson's sister Brittany Tippins said.
On Tuesday, 20-year-old Daniel Williams was charged with the teen's murder. The Long County Sheriff's Office says tension between the two men was brewing for months. Investigators say all the fighting was over a girl.
"He confessed that he stabbed the boy in the heart. We arrested him and he is in jail. When bond comes up I'm going to ask the court to deny him bond," Sheriff Cecil Nobles said.
Richardson's grandmother says the arrest does bring some closure, but it's not going to bring her grandson back.
"He was always humorous. He would have a joke for you to cheer you up," Judy Berry said.
The hope now is that Richardson's death will help other youth in the community learn not to resort to violence.
The sheriff says there could be another arrest in the case.
