TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - If you plan on driving down to Tybee's famous Beach Bum Parade prepare for some changes to this year's celebration.

Tybee Mayor Jason Buelterman tells WTOC the parade has gotten so large and a little rowdy,  so they're looking at ways they can make the parade a little safer.

There's talk of bringing in more police officers.  They are also looking at ways to regulate the crowd; for example, possibly ticketing people who run out in the roadway, or those who take things a little too far.

There's also discussion of possibly holding the parade on another day, which isn't something Mayor Buelterman is in favor of.

He says the parade committee has done such a good job with the parade that more and more people are deciding to come and take part.  The city wants to keep the parade but, they need to get a little more control over it.

We'll keep you posted on what they decide.
