Chatham County Police say alcohol and speeding led to an accident early Saturday morning on the Talmadge Bridge that killed a member of the Coast Guard and a Savannah man.
Officers say 28 year old Shane McAloon, a soldier stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, lost control of his Ford Mustang and struck a guardrail while he was driving north on the bridge. Three passengers were thrown out of the car. 27 year old Christopher Speerstra and 26 year old Jason Hill, who was stationed at Coast Guard Station Tybee, were killed in the accident. McAloon and 30 year old Steve Lemieux were rushed to Memorial Health.
As of Monday morning, McAloon was in fair condition and Lemieux remained in critical condition.
