Power outage ties up morning commute

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - An outage knocked out power to traffic lights on major streets such as Victory Drive and 37th Street and tied up the morning commute.

An outage in downtown Savannah is affecting 1,200 customers due to a down powerline, according to Georgia Power. The outage is affecting customers on West 35th Lane, 47th Street, 52nd Street and Oakview Drive. A.E. Beach High School was also without power, but their service has been restored.

The powerline fell onto other lines in downtown Savannah. Crews are working on it right now and they hope to restore service soon.

Georgia Power assured the bulk of customers have already had their service restored, but approximately 400 remain without power.
