SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.'s expansion plans are expected to create 1,000 new jobs.
The company said that the expansion is part of a $500 million, seven-year plan. It involves a new facility in the northwest quadrant of the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and renovating of existing buildings at Gulfstream's main campus.
The plan is to ensure that the company is well-positioned to meet demand for business jet aircraft and support services.
The new jobs include product specialists, engineers and support technicians.
This will be Gulfstream's second major expansion in the last five years, according to Gov. Sonny's Perdue's office. Last year, Gulfstream finished a $300 million expansion that it announced in 2006.
