SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The inside of the Extreme Makeover Home Edition house on Abercorn and 55th streets was starting to take shape Monday night.
JT Turner Construction crews say most of the electrical and plumbing is finished. They were beginning to install the interior finshings like trim.
A crew of over one hundred volunteers is working on the house 24 hours a day. Many of the volunteers are now focusing on the interior.
Chairman Pete Liakakis gave the executive producer of the show, Brady Connell, a key to the county. Host Paul Dimeo was also given a key.
"It's a great honor. Out of all the cities we've been to, this is the first time we've ever gotten a key like this. Savannah is great and welcoming," Dimeo said.
Connell says the city has done nothing but welcome the team and help them get the project off the ground.
The Simpson family will return on Thursday for the unveiling of their new home.
