THUNDERBOLT, GA (WTOC) - An overnight fire damages a shrimp boat on the Wilmington River.
The Thunderbolt Fire Department responded to the call just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.
They found the boat engulfed in flames.
Firefighters quickly worked to get the blaze out. But the boat received significant damage, mainly to the cabin.
The Thunderbolt Fire Chief looked through the boat after the fire, trying to determine the exact extent of the damage and how the fire might have started.
"Nobody was injured. There was nobody on the boat at the time," Chief Carl Smith said. "We just got on there and had a pretty quick knock down within a couple of minutes and then got some crews into the engine compartment."
The boat's owner was on scene after the fire, sifting through the damage.
