SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - It's day four on the site of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the Simpson home is really coming together.
Where an old dilapidated pool and home once stood, a brand new 3,200 square foot four bedroom house is taking shape.
"It is a small lot," said Volunteer Coordinator Matt West. "We are in Ardsley park, so to make up for square footage that Extreme Makeover has done in the past, they really ramped up detail on interior and exterior. The designers have some really amazing things planned."
Tuesday marks day four of construction on the Simpson home, and all the hard work by the volunteers is paying off.
"It's amazing to see how fast it's going," said Custom Cabinets Owner Chris Williamson.
There is a lot of detail going into making this the perfect home for the Simpson family, and their miracle baby Zoë.
"There is alot of audio visual and a great therapy room," said West.
More than $50,000 worth of cabinets are also being installed throughout the house.
"I think she will love it," said Williamson about Carmen Simpson. "The whole house is spetacular. As far as the cabinets go there is a lot of cabinets. I am a little jealous and I own a cabinet shop."
There is even some Savannah inspired designs being placed in the master bedroom.
"The designers when they were touring around Savannah trying to get an idea went through a number of homes that had exterior brick as walls. They fell in love with it and that is actually the master. It is a nice accent," said West.
All the hammering and sawing is attracting a crowd of spectators.
"Seeing it first hand is lots of fun," said Emily McGlone.
Everyone is most excited for Thursday which is when the hard work of the volunteers is revealed to a family. "I would love to scream move that bus," said McGlone.
The Simpson family is expected to return on Monday when their new home will be revealed to them.
Right now the crew is in need of professional painters and wallpaper hangers and installers. If would like to help, visit the Coastal Empire Fairgrounds.
