Chatham County police are searching for two men wanted in connection with the late-night armed robbery of a Southside motel. About 11pm last night, the clerks at the Fairfield Inn at Highway 204 and I-95 tell police they were getting ready to lock up the front doors for the night when two men burst in carrying guns. One man jumped over the counter and held a gun to one clerk's head, while the other suspect demanded money from the other clerk.
When the men got the cash, they ran out. One suspect was wearing a dew rag over his face, the other had a towel over his head, and both were wearing gloves. Fortunately no one was hurt. The motel has a surveillance camera system, and we are hoping to get some pictures of the suspects later today.
