PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) - Chef Jean Vendeville and culinary students from Savannah Tech stopped by the Promised Land Farm in Port Wentworth to study up on collard greens, sugar cane and other fresh crops familiar to southern cooking.
It was a great way for those who cook food to meet with those who grow food. One contraption got a lot of attention -- a sugar cane grinder, which is hooked up to the engine of an old truck.
"I know where the raw products come from and how much work it really takes and to provide all this for us, especially with only two doing it. It's really hard, and now I have a better understanding of it," said Tiffany Stanley, a culinary student.
The family farm is home to the annual collard green festival, which takes place in March.
